I had a pretty bad experience. I dont want to jump to conclusions but I have reasons to belive that the staff (the people who worked at the snack and food place) were very ignorant and inexperienced. There was a man and a woman working behind the counter and the man took my money for my 1 slice of pizza (it was overpriced) and the line was pretty long and there was a second line where you waited for your food and I stood there but there was no pizza. Apparently I was only supposed to pay if the pizza was ready which was NOT clear so the woman asked me if i paid and I said yes, but she checked with the man before giving me my food and he claimed that he was not sure but then he suddenly remembered and i was given my food and then for some reason, the woman refused to give me my change! I was very disappointed with the service and it was only my first time there, but besides that everything else was fine.

I have been here several times with my daughter since she was younger (a period of about 6 years or so) because she loves to roller skate. Even though the area is undesirable, it is old and in need of a renovation, and some of the employees seem unfriendly (not all) I still go back because she prefers the floors of Skateland for skating rather than some of the others that we've been too because this is where she learned to skate. Tonight I decided to take my family out skating as the kids were bored and I saw security in the front (armed off duty police) which I appreciated. We went in behind some ladies and their children and I noticed that they were using the metal detectors on the kids (some looked as young as 1 year old) :(. I don't live in the area anymore (thank goodness) and had driven 25 minutes to get to this Skateland and have been there many times over the years even though it is now further away from us than some of the others and hoped and prayed that the armed policeman was not going to approach my 4 year old (and other children) with that nasty metal detector as if she were a criminal. I don't mind a man searching my bag (wow!) or even searching me with the metal detector (which really should be done by a woman) but I will not allow you to treat my young kids as if they are criminals and search them for weapons. I asked him not to approach my children with the metal detector and he said I had "no choice" if I wanted to get in so, my husband, myself, and my children, turned around and left and I will NEVER return. Children shouldn't be faced with this type of thing when they are going out to have a good time, we are going to the skating rink NOT JAIL! If you're decent, have a car, a choice, and don't want your children (young and older) being criminalized at a young age, go somewhere else to spend your money! How do you convince your children self respect and to feel good about themselves, when everyone there is African American (including us), want to have a good time on a Saturday night, and they are searching the kids (even babies) with metal detectors for weapons! Never again!!!!!

Had my childs 4th bday there it was ok but the security is very disrepectful and physical to kids little girls at that and then disrectful and rude to there customers especially when we came to him in a respectful manner so parents that send ur teens there without adult supervision BEWARE OF THE SECURITY TOTALLY OUT OF LINE . I MUST SAY IT WAS 1 IN PARTICULAR BUT WHEN SUPPERVISOR CAME OUT HE WAS NO HELP SIDED WIT THE DISREPECTFUL ONE OF COURSE. but other then that my child had a good time so thats what mattered but they need new security. The 1st and last party i will have there only reccommend for zumba

Good space amount. Good music volume. Good lights. Fair price. 3$ rental isnt bad. But the 8$ admission is a little steep.

This Skateland is one of the most fun skating places I have been to!! I come here every month. Everyone is nice and the DJ loves to get any type of music requests. The sound is great with good bass. It is also great for parties and it is worth every dime. I suggest if you do come here, don't come alone. Bring a friend or family member just to make it all the better.
